Mainstream radio stations should totally be playing Einstürzende Neubauten!

I think you're correct in saying that whatever marketing algorithms they are using to put together the mainstream rock stations are singularly unadventerous. On the other hand, the vast majority of people do actually like just one type of music - something that we can overlook since we never hang out with the majority of people (this is similar to the 'who is actually voting in all these elections?' question...).

If I take one lesson from this, it's that most DJs on mainstream stations are dickheads, no matter what genre they're playing...
